Leapmotor B05: New Chinese rival challenges the ID.3

With the Leapmotor B05, another Chinese manufacturer enters the compact EV class. In Germany the price list begins at around 27,900 euros – a level with which the car deliberately sets its sights on rivals such as the VW ID.3 and the Cupra Born. The car is driven via the rear axle, optionally with up to 160 kW or 218 PS. Depending on the chosen battery, a single charge is good for around 401 or up to 482 kilometers according to WLTP, with charging at a maximum of 168 kW. When it comes to speed at the charging station, this gives it an edge over the ID.3, which needs more than half an hour to go from 10 to 80 percent. Also on board at no extra charge is a heat pump – a component that often costs extra at VW, for example. From the low entry price and the technology, Leapmotor thus shapes an offering that noticeably challenges its competitors. Especially for anyone who mostly drives alone or as a pair, around 27,900 euros yields a package that leaves the VW ID.3 behind both technically and financially.
