Prototype Reveals: Is the ID.3 Neo Coming as a GTX?
Spy shots show what appears to be a more powerful offshoot of the ID.3 Neo. There is much to suggest that Volkswagen is sharpening the sporty spearhead of the model line with a GTX version – effectively the electric counterpart to the well-known GTI concept in the compact segment. Beneath the camouflage, we can expect a stronger powertrain as well as visual accents that set the GTX apart from the regular models. The APP550 drive unit with 326 PS and 545 Nm is said to be used, paired with a 79-kWh battery. Official data is not yet available – and the largely inconspicuous, almost demure-looking prototype barely hints at the finished attire of the performance model; in places it even appears to be the camouflaged apron of the old model. With a GTX, VW would round out the ID.3 model range at the top and position it more emotionally. For fans of sporty compacts, this could become the most interesting version of the revised ID.3.
