VW Doubles Its Share of the Used Electric Car Market
According to an analysis, the Volkswagen Group has nearly doubled its share of the German used market for electric cars. In April and May 2026, the Volkswagen Group, with its brands VW, Audi, Skoda, Cupra and Porsche, reached a share of 37.9 percent among used battery-electric vehicles – clearly setting itself apart from the rest of the competition. This position is supported by several models at once: vehicles such as the VW ID.3, the VW ID.4 and the Skoda Enyaq are increasingly available and are priced in a range that is becoming attractive to many buyers in the used segment. The ranking of the most sought-after used electric cars was led by the ID.3 with a 6.5 percent share and a median price of 21,280 euros. Notably, all five best-selling models of this period came from the Volkswagen Group. For the industry, this is a signal of how quickly the still young used market for electric cars is maturing. The competition is changing – moving away from an environment long dominated by a few pioneers of electromobility toward a more broadly positioned market driven more strongly by the model portfolio.
